Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 1, 2025
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites function more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website operators about how their site is being used.
In addition to cookies, this policy covers related tracking technologies, including:
- Web beacons (pixel tags): Small invisible images embedded in web pages or emails that are used to track whether a page has been viewed or an email has been opened.
- Local storage: A browser mechanism similar to cookies that allows websites to store larger amounts of data on your device persistently.
- Session storage: Similar to local storage but cleared when the browser tab or window is closed.
- JavaScript tracking snippets: Code loaded by web pages that can collect data about your browser, device, and interactions.
Throughout this policy, we refer to all of these technologies collectively as "cookies."
2. How ClauseMesh Uses Cookies
ClauseMesh uses cookies for four main purposes:
2.1 To Operate the Site and Platform
Some cookies are essential for the Site and Platform to function. Without these cookies, certain features would not work — for example, you would not be able to log in and stay logged in across pages, your session would not be maintained while processing documents, and security mechanisms protecting your account would be compromised. These cookies do not collect marketing data and are placed automatically when you access the Site or Platform. They cannot be disabled without disrupting core functionality.
2.2 To Remember Your Preferences
Functional cookies allow the Site and Platform to remember choices you have made — such as your preferred language, your cookie consent choices, your display settings within the Platform, and whether you have previously dismissed notification banners. These cookies improve your experience by not requiring you to restate your preferences on every visit.
2.3 To Understand How the Site and Platform Are Used
Analytics cookies collect information about how visitors interact with the Site and how Platform users interact with product features. This information helps us understand which pages are most visited, where visitors arrive from, how users navigate through the Platform, and which features are used most or least frequently. We use this data to make product improvements and to optimize the Site's content and performance. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you as an individual by name.
2.4 To Support Marketing Activities
Marketing cookies are used to track visitors across websites and to deliver advertisements and promotional communications that are relevant to your professional interests. These cookies record whether you have visited the Site, which pages you viewed, and whether you clicked on advertisements or other links. This information may be shared with advertising partners to enable retargeting campaigns. Marketing cookies are only placed with your consent where required by applicable law.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use

3.3 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how the Site and Platform are used. With your consent, we use the following analytics providers:

Google Analytics data is processed under a data processing agreement with Google. We have enabled IP anonymization in our Google Analytics configuration, meaning your full IP address is not retained. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
3.4 Marketing Cookies
Marketing cookies are only placed with your explicit consent. We use the following marketing technologies:
| Cookie / Tracker | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au, _gcl_aw | Google Ads | Conversion tracking for paid search campaigns | 90 days |

| _hs_*, hubspotutk | HubSpot | Marketing automation, contact identification for CRM, email campaign tracking | 13 months |
If you decline marketing cookies, we will not place them on your device. You may still see ClauseMesh advertisements on third-party platforms, but they will not be targeted based on your prior visits to our Site.
4. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
4.1 Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit the ClauseMesh Site, a cookie consent banner is displayed. You can accept all cookies, decline non-essential cookies, or customize your preferences by category. Your choices are stored in a functional cookie (cm_cookie_consent) and honored on subsequent visits for up to 12 months, after which you will be prompted again.
To update your cookie preferences at any time, click the "Cookie Preferences" link in the Site footer. You can withdraw consent for any cookie category at any time — withdrawal applies from that point forward and does not affect data that was already collected while consent was active.
4.2 Browser Controls
All major browsers allow you to control cookies through the browser settings. You can configure your browser to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or clear cookies when you close the browser. Browser-level controls apply across all websites, not just ClauseMesh. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging into the ClauseMesh Platform.
Instructions for cookie management in major browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data
4.3 Opt-Out Tools for Third-Party Analytics and Advertising
For more targeted control over third-party analytics and advertising cookies, you can use industry opt-out tools:
- Google Analytics: Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on
- LinkedIn: LinkedIn Settings > Advertising Data > Manage advertising preferences
- Interest-based advertising broadly: Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out (US) or Your Online Choices (EU)
5. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on the ClauseMesh Site are placed by third parties whose services we have incorporated. These third parties may also collect data about your browsing behavior on other websites that use their services. ClauseMesh does not control the data practices of third-party cookie providers. We select third-party providers that maintain current privacy policies consistent with applicable law, and we execute data processing agreements with them where required.
Third-party providers whose cookies may be present on the Site include Google (Analytics, Ads), LinkedIn, HubSpot, Cloudflare, and Segment. Links to their respective privacy policies are available in Section 3's table descriptions. ClauseMesh is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites or services.
6. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals to websites. Because there is no consistent industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, ClauseMesh does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals. If a DNT standard is established that we are required or choose to follow, we will update this policy accordingly.
7. Cookies and Children
ClauseMesh is a business-to-business service. We do not knowingly use cookies to collect data from individuals under 16 years of age. If you believe a minor has used the Site without parental consent, please contact us at team@clausemesh.com.
8. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our use of cookies changes or as legal requirements evolve. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent changes were made. Material changes — such as the addition of new cookie categories or significant new third-party providers — will be communicated via the cookie consent banner, which will re-prompt you to review and confirm your preferences. We recommend reviewing this page periodically to stay informed about our cookie practices.
